The 2012 carnival theme is The Olympics

We are sorry to annouce that this year there will not be an official procession through the town as the Police have said they do not have the resources to support us and unfortunately the Lions cannot afford the £4000 to hire a private traffic management company. This doesn't effect the Fun Day in the Park and we suggest that any vehicles wanting to take part meet at the Park and take a suggested ride around the town instead (see the route page). The Carnival Queen and Princesses will still be able to ride in horse and carraiges on the suggested route.

The carnival queen competition provided some tough decision making for our judges this year with 17 entries of all ages. The judges were Keith Wedgebury from BBC CWR, Ben Day from Touch FM and Cheryl Knights, owner of Eternal Bride. This years carnival Princesses will be Lauren Pawlik and Mia Lane who accompany the Town Carnival Queen, Leah Jayne Townsend. (see the results page for a picture and an official one will posted in the gallery later in the year). The winners will be going to Eternal Bride in Warwick to have their dresses fitted for the day.

This year we plan to make the carnival even more involved for the children as last year, but linked into the Olympic theme. We are planning a bigger under 12's team challenge this year. Enter your team in a competition with various competition events which includes the Olympic Torch assualt course relay, archery, shooting, javelin and more to win a trophy for your team. Just e-mail us with your team name and the names of your 5 members.

We will also see the return of the 'Fit to Dance' dance troop with the oppurtunity for you all to get involved with, as well as the ever popular faconry display for the children to be "swooped" by and a dog agility display.
